Year 8 Netball Takes on Le Rocquier

On 22 September 2026, I had the opportunity to represent our school in a Year 8 netball fixture against Le Rocquier School. It was an exciting afternoon, and I was lucky enough to play in two games.

The first match was incredibly close, with both teams working hard and putting their skills into practice. After a competitive game, the final score was 3–1. It was great to see everyone communicating, supporting one another and working together as a team.

The second match proved to be even more challenging. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we unfortunately lost 2–1. Although we didn’t get the result we wanted, the game was still a great opportunity to improve our skills, learn from our mistakes and gain more experience on the court.

I was able to play in both matches because some players were unable to attend. While it was a shame that some people couldn’t make it, it gave me the chance to play more and experience two very different games.

Netball is a fantastic sport because it is all about teamwork, communication and supporting each other. You don’t have to be an expert to get involved — training is a great way to learn new skills, become more confident and have fun with your friends.

If you’re interested in trying netball but don’t want to play in competitive matches, that’s absolutely fine! You can simply attend the training sessions instead. Just make sure you let the PE teachers know that you would prefer not to play in matches.

Overall, playing against Le Rocquier was a really enjoyable experience. Even though we didn’t win both games, I was proud of the effort everyone put in, and I would definitely encourage more students to give netball a go. You might discover a new sport that you really enjoy!
