Amazing School Production – Aladdin
I was part of the school production, and it was an amazing experience and I loved every second of it! The cast were amazing and everyone was so nice and helpful to work with. This year the school show was Aladdin and the cast were so talented. The principal cast was; Aladdin, Jasmine, Wishee, So-Shi, Widow Twankey, Abanazer, Pep-si, Ko-la. If you have never done a school production I would recommend it; it’s a great extracurricular activity and you get taken out of lessons.
Our show was a pantomime so there were songs, dances, jokes and interactive moments to get the crowd engaged. My favourite part was the washing scene; in it, Wishee crawled into a giant fake washing machine and Widow Twankey turned it on, then there was a comical scene where Wishee spun around in the washing machine and used props like a rubber duck to make the crowd laugh. My favourite part to act in was the end scene because I was a dancer and at the end I had to do three fun dances.
Doing a school production is good for you as well because it boosts self-confidence and self-esteem. Performing on stage, or even working backstage, helps students overcome insecurities and develop a “yes, I can!” attitude. The experience of seeing a project through to a successful final performance was a huge confidence booster. It enhances communication skills. Students learn to project their voices, express emotions, and use non-verbal communication effectively (body language). These skills are transferable to everyday life, including class presentations, job interviews, and social interactions.
