The Summer Music Concert
Every term, there is a school concert with a variety of instruments and students of many talents. There are many bands like the Year 7 Band, Drum Core, Year 8 Band, Brass Band, and Senior Band. We practice our pieces and perform them in the Haute Vallee Theatre in front of friends and family.
We were in three bands including the Year 7 Band, the Brass Band and Senior Band. Abi played flute in the Year 7 Band and then the cornet in the other bands whilst I played tenor horn in both.
At the very start of Year 7, we chose our instruments and this term a select few of the Year 7s were chosen to play.
The pieces we played were Welsh and German tunes. We would practice our instruments every week and on Tuesday 17th June, we performed them right after the drum core. In the Brass Band we played ‘Abide’ and ‘500 Miles’. Last, but not least, we played in the Senior Band where we played Hello Dolly, Grease, Happy Birthday and Jurassic Park.
We played at the end, and we played very well might I add. It was an enormous success!
Every time we do a concert, it’s always a little nerve wracking but when you get up and play it’s a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed it, and we hope we inspired some of the younger members of the audience to start playing instruments.
